Podolný & Oddajný’s legacy
From October to December 2015 I partook in the KAIR artist in residency programme in cooperation with Motel Spatie, in Košice, Slowakia. In these two months, I lived and worked in Košice, meeting people and places, obtaining various impressions, and building a site specific object/installation which reflects the places and encounters as I experienced them. The work was built in Kotolňa, the old boiler room (excluding boiler) of the former Tobacco Factory in Košice. It was constructed out of metal screw thread bars, various metal connection pieces and blue and white stretchy, reflective fabric. The work is accompanied by a fable titled Podolný & Oddajný’s legacy. This fable uses the two materials of metal and fabric and its characteristics as personalities and tells the story of the work; how the two materials function and work together, how obvious or expected characteristics strangely turn around, resulting in the ultimate work. Below an impression of the work in photographs. Click on the photo’s below to see more, including a short video impression of the work, more photo’s and more info about the fable in booklet form, as well as photo’s of the opening.
